When back pain becomes a problem
Back pain can appear suddenly after lifting, bending, sport or a long shift, or it can build gradually over time. It may feel like stiffness, aching, sharp pain, tightness, spasms or discomfort that limits normal movement.
How physiotherapy support may help
A suitable practitioner may assess your movement, symptoms, activity levels and history before suggesting appropriate next steps. Support may include education, pacing advice, movement confidence, strengthening and exercise-based rehabilitation where appropriate.
What to mention in your enquiry
It helps to mention where the pain is, how long it has been present, whether it travels into the leg, what makes it better or worse, and whether it affects work, sleep, walking, lifting or training.
When to seek urgent help
Back pain with loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the saddle area, sudden leg weakness, fever, severe trauma, unexplained weight loss, or severe unexplained pain should be treated urgently.
